General Motor Company has refreshed its popular compact SUV for 2020, and along with a sweeping new exterior style, there is a whole host of new additions and advanced safety features.
The 2020 GMC Terrain utilizes every inch of the surprisingly spacious interior that can transport cargo up to eight feet in length. GMC pro safety features such as an array of camera-based safety technologies are designed to make the Terrain one of the safest compact SUVs in its class. It can seat up to five passengers and has a cargo volume of 63.3 cubic feet.
One change that may upset some GMC customers is that the diesel option is no longer available for the 2020 Terrain. Even without the diesel option, there are still many great reasons to choose the 2020 GMC Terrain such as the 252 horsepower engine that offers 21 to 26 miles per gallon. One of the most notable highlights for the 2020 GMC Terrain is the Elevation Edition that offers enthusiasts a curated model with a boost to style and visual appeal. The Elevation Edition comes with 19-inch gloss-black aluminum wheels, a darkened front grille, black mirror caps, roof rails, black exterior accents, and trim badging.
The 2020 GMC Terrain comes with four available trim levels including the SL, SLE, SLT, and Denali. The SL, SLE, and SLT all come with a standard 170 horsepower 1.5L turbo four- cylinder engine and a nine-speed transmission. The Denali offers the most powerful trim level with a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine and a nine-speed transmission. The colors available for these trim levels include Ebony Twilight Metallic, Summit White, Graphite Gray Metallic, and Satin Steel Metallic.
The 2020 GMC Terrain is loaded with interior features that any technology enthusiast will appreciate. There are many charging stations for your devices such as a 110-volt power outlet, and 12-volt auxiliary power outlets in the front and cargo area.
There are also two-way adjustable front head restraints, a 3.5-inch diagonal monochromatic driver information screen, a four-way manual driver seat with manual recline, and a six-speaker audio system. An eight-inch diagonal GMC Infotainment System comes standard in the Terrain and an optional 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is available.
The exterior of the 2020 GMC Terrain has the most visible changes that include a sleeker redesign of the vehicle’s contours. A more streamlined appearance has been added to the GMC’s compact SUV line, which fits perfectly with 18-inch machined aluminum wheels with Dark Gray painted accents.
The acoustic laminated windshield is standard as well as active noise cancellation and automatic delay headlamps. The rear windshield glass is deep-tinted and features a hands- free power programmable liftgate. The outside power mirrors are heated and the high- intensity discharge (HID) headlamps are bright enough to light the way in even the worst conditions.
The 2020 GMC Terrain weighs 3,449 pounds and offers up to 252 horsepower with the Denali trim level and 170 horsepower for the other trim levels. The Terrain features four- link rear suspension and 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with 11.8-inch front and 11.3-inch rear rotors.
It can get up to 30 miles per gallon on the highway and 26 miles per gallon in the city and the fuel tank can hold up to 15.6 gallons. The 2020 GMC Terrain can also tow up to 3,500 pounds with the Denali trim level and 1,500 pounds with the other trim levels.
The SL, SLE, and SLT all offer the same towing power with the increase in power coming when you upgrade to the Denali trim level
GMC excels at safety and the 2020 GMC Terrain is no exception. This latest iteration of their best-selling compact SUV offers an impressive host of safety features including camera- based systems that give the driver an extra edge when it comes to safety.
One of the most notable features is the front pedestrian braking that will detect if a person is in the path of the vehicle and automatically brake. Other safety features include Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and IntelliBeam headlamps.
These features combine for one of the most value-packed compact SUVs available and the GMC Terrain has an elegant style that anyone can appreciate. With a host of trim levels to choose from and available towing power for those with greater hauling needs, the 2020 Terrain is a worthy addition to the GMC lineup.
