The news of the new GMC Hummer EV (all-electric) powerhouse has impressed drivers and automotive enthusiasts from Petoskey to Cheboygan. Among some of its most exciting features is the new "Crab Mode" terrain driving functionality, also known as the Crab Walk. Learn more about what this unique perk does, how it can improve your off-roading adventures, and how it works with your local Fletch's of Petoskey dealership today.
How Does it Work? How Does it Benefit All-Terrain Driving
Crab Walk is a drive mode you can switch into when faced with challenging terrain that requires you to drive over high obstacles like boulders or navigate over an extremely hilly region. When you switch into this drive mode, your Hummer will utilize its four-wheel steering to move each wheel independently of one another—but all are moving forward no matter how your car is positioned.
As you might imagine, this crawling feature is a great perk for those in a tricky terrain scenario where you need to traverse over high ground clearance areas at a moment's notice. The Crab Walk moves in a diagonal side-to-side motion, which works wonders for driving over these difficult terrain areas, but is, of course, a fun feature to show off on flat ground, too.
